Test Cock Options

These are some of the many options for test cocks available.  Some of the ones we sell are made by the backflow manufacturers such as Febco or Wilkins.  Others are made by other companies that don't even produce backflow assemblies.  

The Febco test cocks are the same ones used on the Ames, Febco and Watts as Watts owns Ames and makes the assemblies for them.  It is a better price through Febco.  

Generally assemblies that are on piping sized 1/4, 3/8", 1/2", 3/4" or 1" will use the test cock with the 1/8" male thread, the one that threads into the backflow assembly.  

If it is 1 1/4", 1 1/2" or 2" it would be a 1/4" male thread, or the one that goes into the backflow assembly.

If the test cock has a female end they are 1/4" regardless of the 1/8" or 1/4" male thread.  The ones that have a male thread on top are SAE fittings and are designed for those that test the backflow assembly so they can thread their test hose on without having to put an adapter into it so they can test it.

There are a few other larger test cocks specific to the Ames Colts, Maxim models.  It is the #3 test cock.  It is also the same as the Watts 757 and 957 models.  

Assemblies over 2 1/2" have ball valves for test cocks.  They are typically 1/2" for sizes 2 1/2", 3", and 4".  3/4" for sizes 6", 8" and 10" and the few 12" models.  There are rare exceptions and I believe there is a model that has both the 1/2" and 3/4" on it
